Corten Steel Cado Flared Round Planters By Adezz
Our beautiful Corten Steel Cado Flared Round Planters by Adezz are the perfect combination of modern and traditional. With a classic planter shape usually seen in materials such as Terracotta, these planters have a conventional edge. However, they are made form Corten Steel which is an incredibly fashionable, contemporary material used throughout landscape design. This fusion of old-style and new material makes these planters rather spectacular. Fabricated from high-quality 2mm thick Corten Steel these stylish planters are long-lasting and durable. The weather-resistance of these pieces comes from the fact that Corten Steel forms a self-protecting rust layer over times which prevents degradation of the inner steel. Flared planters give a fantastic starting point for a gorgeous planting scheme and with the large range of sizes available, you can find the perfect planters to fit your garden design. Filling a flared round planter with a shrub such as a Lacecap Hydrangea gives an impactful finish filled with stunning foliage and delicate flowers. If you have plenty of outdoor space, using the larger versions of these Corten Steel Flared Round Planters by Adezz at various spots in your garden can add style and structure. These planters also comes with small 15mm feet and drainage holes which allow water to flow freely out and away from the base of the planter. The design of these planters means that they work well as stand-alone pieces, when used in sets or when used in combination with our other Corten Steel Planters. How Your Planter Will Weather
- When your planter arrives, it will be colour of freshly manufactured steel, with a dark oily coating.
- As your Corten Steel planters begins to weather, the oily residue will break down.
- Your planter will begin to change colour, during this stage – the ‘run-off’ may stain stone or concrete surfaces that it comes into contact with.
- After 9 months, some ‘run-off’ may still occur.
Corten Steel (or weathering steel) is an alloy that naturally forms a rust coating the over the first 9 months or so of it being exposed to the weather. Interestingly, due to the composition of this special alloy, this rust coating forms a protective layer they prevents further rusting. The steel underneath remains unimpaired as the outer layer continues to protect and regenerate as it exposed to water and oxygen.
One of the most striking landmarks in Britain, The Angel of the North, by the artist Anthony Gormly is made of COR-TEN weathering steel. It is one of many remarkable structures in the world made of weathering steel including but not limited to the Barclays Centre, The Chicago Picasso Sculpture and the Australian centre for contemporary art. COR-TEN (CORrosion resistance TENsile strength) weathering steel was first invented by United States Steel for use in the manufacture of ore transports. Since it was creation in the 1930’s, a slew of artists and designers have seen the potential of Corten weathering steel to create installations of great style and beauty. This Adezz range is a notable addition to that list.
You will see in the gallery and image representing the ageing process that Corten steel goes through, and although this is outlined in the section above – you can see in the image the range of shades these planters take on as they form their protective coating.
